[ There's a knock on the door, because even though he has a key, he's still very polite. ]

[scaredofdogs]

[He pulls the door open with a bright smile. He's not surprised the other didn't use the key even though it wouldn't have bothered him if he had.]

Come on in, Lan Zhan! Your present is on the table.

[There is a small gift wrapped in cloth and tied with a red ribbon waiting for him.]

You can open it right away or you can try to guess what it is first and build the suspense~

I hadn't expected a gift at all.

It is not my birthday, Wei Ying. What is the occasion?

[ He's not terribly suspicious, just a little confused. ]

[scaredofdogs]

No occasion necessary! [He closes the door and moves towards the table.]

It's fun to give and receive things just because we can. If you want I can come up with a reason.

[He tilts his head as if he is deep in thought and then declares:} Today can be Lan Zhan day!

[billowing]

Did you get a similar gift for your Lan Wangji as well?

[ If today is Lan Zhan day. But he picks up the package carefully, trying to feel out its contents. ]

[The package has some decent weight to it and is rectangular in shape. He gives a nod in response.]

I did..or..I will. He hasn't gotten it yet but I have a similar one for him.

[billowing]

Is it... tea?

[ A fair question, considering where they are. ]

Alcohol?

[scaredofdogs]

[He laughs and shakes his head.]

Why would I give you alcohol? That wouldn't be a very good gift for you. For me it might be. But it isn't tea either. It is something you can enjoy while relaxing though.

[billowing]

...Is it a book?

[ Alcohol really would be a bad gift but he wouldn't put it past Wei Ying. ]

[scaredofdogs]

[He gives a small nod with a pleased expression.]

A few of them actually. Go ahead and open it.

[Five of them in total. All of which were once part of the library collection at Cloud Recesses.]

[billowing]

[ He opens it up and looks inside and-- oh. He thumbs them reverently, a small smile as he looks upon the titles. ]

...Thank you.

Since there isn’t a library here I figured this way at least you would have some books and maybe you can start your own small one. You can trade back and forth with the ones I am giving to the other one if you get bored of these.

[billowing]

I will trade. But it will not be out of boredom.

[ He puts the books down and considers it a moment before pulling Wei Ying into a hug. ]

[scaredofdogs]

Ah! [The action catches him off guard but only for a moment. He wraps his arms around him to return the hug, turning his face upwards to smile at him.]

I guess this means you like it.

[Which makes him happy. It isn't much but he had hoped they would appreciate the gift.]

[billowing]

[ He doesn't say that that he would've loved anything that Wei Ying gave him. ]

I do. Thank you, Wei Ying.

You are welcome, Lan Zhan. I'm glad I could help you start your library. And I'll get you more if you want them.

[He would give Lan Wangji the moon if he could.]

Where did you get them?

[ He knows this, and doesn't want Wei Ying to get in trouble. ]

Sometimes I ask the hotel for things and when the teas are delivered so are the gifts. And I did well at the competitions a few weeks ago so I asked for some as a reward. I've been accumulating them until I had enough to make it a nice gift.

[billowing]

Mm.

[ Acceptable. ]

I will read through these and hand them to the other Lan Wangji.

[scaredofdogs]

Pretty soon I bet I could give you guys a nice big library.

[That seems to be his goal. He doesn't really have anything that he wants for himself so getting things for the two of them is what makes him happy.]

[billowing]

I don't need an entire library. But I appreciate the effort.

[scaredofdogs]

[He tilts his face so he can look up at him.]

If you could have anything from home, what would you want?

[billowing]

I have Wei Ying. I have Xiongzhang.

I need nothing else.

[scaredofdogs]

Mm..There is nothing else I need either. There are people that I miss, but I wouldn't wish for them to be here.

[He lays his head back down against him again. He wishes he could see them again but he wouldn't want anyone to have to deal with all that being at the hotel entails.]

[billowing]

[ He cards his hand through Wei Ying's hair softly, and shifts against him. ]

Then let us hope it is just us.
